"U.U." This character you've created in Reginald is just so sweet that he has a pet name for his sleepmobile... And then 'the yips snuck up on him'...endearing him to us...and now little Phineas...my heart can't take much more! Can't wait for the next chapter!

I am thrilled that you like these characters. I'm having so much fun with them. Phineas is one of my favorite characters ever (from my little arsenal.) You are going to meet the last two big characters on Sunday, one of whom is a loveable three-legged dog.

“It was a parade of indignities , large and small.”

“The two of them: Reginald and Phineas. If I do them justice, you’ll end up liking them both and then some.” Yup, I’m with you, and a few pages from now I can envision the possibilities. Kind of like The Karate Kid, only Phineas may not have as much potential as Daniel, who didn’t have much. And Reginald is no Mr. Miyagi, but if the moral of the story pans out, then they will both be winners . Like Mr. Miyagi might say,

“Man who catch fly with chopstick, accomplish anything.” ( no I did not remember the quote, had to look it up, and yes, I am not ashamed to say that I recently watched The Karate Kid ,again).

it's too funny that there's a quote about catching a fly with chopsticks. I have a line about catching a bee between your pinkies. (I have not seen the film actually, but I've absorbed the Wise Old Asian guy motif with Young Grasshopper.) Reginald is no Mr. Miyagi, though. You're right about that, but I like him all the same. And little Phineas, he's far more than a Grasshopper. I have stocked the pond with loveable losers. That are really winners. When I lose control of my imagination, I see a movie poster like back in the day and on it, it reads, "Losing isn't everything."

Everything in this story is upside down. I'm waiting for the jury to come in now.

If you follow orders, Karate Kid is on NETFLIX and free on TUBI ( the 1984 version Ralph Macchio, Pat Morita)

I can’t believe you have never seen Karate Kid! Yet you have a quote about catching a bee between pinkie fingers. It is a bit of a sappy movie, but classically wonderful. You must endure and watch the first one. If you can’t handle it, then at least watch it up to the chopstick scene. I think you’ll find you will start falling for the mentor and ‘kid’ relationship, as well as the ultimate underdog. Make a nice mug of hot chocolate, add a couple of little marshmallows to bounce around on the surface, ok, add a splash of something stronger if needed, and have a seat.

If I lived near you, I would supervise.
