an excerpt from Notes from Treatment, a bristling collection of essays dedicated to the patients of a treatment center. these essays were published anonymously by the manager of the center.
"Can you hear me?" may haunt me all day....
Thank you Adam and Tommy for sharing a moving and harsh reality.
This .
All of it.
Lands piercing.
Like an arrow.
Straight into the heart.
Leaving a jagged wound.
Sad for the man
and the woman.
Thankful this is not my life.
Grateful for the nomination, Tommy. I’ve read ‘anonymous’ before, hard to read , always riveting. Important to learn.
I almost hear the narrator shouting “Can you hear me? from future metro rides and traffic jams and shopping malls…a plea of all pleas.
And oh how I love “low dumb voice”!!! Sometimes the simplest of words say it all.
Yes. For me, too.
Such a gift, Adam, this series and my thanks to you, anonymous and Tommy!
Thank you, Mary. I’m so happy I could share work here as well. 🙏
