I think I'm in love. Not sure which character.

Could be the author.

What a lovely note. Thank you. And the good news is that I am a literary polyamour! We're all in the right place. 🙏❤️📚

And, hey, other people, possibly reading this comment, take a moment to look at Ramona's own work. No slouch is she. Here's her wise and down-to-earth take on fame and connection to readers (on Substack and elsewhere).

Even better the second time around. And I'm with Ramona, I'm in love - though on this read it became clear that I am deeply in love with Carolyn. You always deliver, Adam. Thank you 💜

❤️ Hah! Mission accomplished! Welcome to my newsletter. 🙏 What a great note to read while I'm stuck in writer's distraction-block this morning. I'm an hour into a tiny little window I have to write and I've read 427 Notes, written one recommendation, prepared my second cup of coffee, reheated it twice, and read your comment here three times. So, anyway, good morning. And thank you.

If you're so inclined, start this little tale back here. A lot of the references go backwards, and more than a few will go forwards if I can get off the dime here.

“He used his foot,” said the suspension bridge who had turned back into a grasshopper. The girl simply couldn’t keep still.”

Good lord the energy of your characters! They animate in my mind’s eye as I read, fleshing out timelines of past and future, intersecting my own as if I’d always known and loved them. You are a magician.

Hi-ho silver, it's been a long time since I read any Michael Chabon, but I'm getting the same seriously giddy feeling - something between hilarity and having to pee but not wanting to tear myself away. Every character jumps off the screen and starts flailing around like they just got a shot of adrenaline straight to the heart. This is SOOOO damn good, Adam!
