I'm overwhelmed today by the wonders of Substack. And here is the wondrous Adam Nathan on the wonders of the Apollo Theater -- you don't wanna miss this post.
Thank you for sharing but above all I’m grateful you feel it. Our writing comes and goes here and we all want to know others get it. It doesn’t have to be a lot of people but it has to be some people. Thanks for being one of them.
I’m mad at you for the way you tangle my insides up in your characters and then just like that, story over. Sweet crackers this story is a bloody masterpiece. My brain is a mess of expletives, in disbelief that a human could write such a thing but also that this human isn’t a household name next to Bradbury and King. I need to go cry.
Magically beautiful. And such a wonderful coda to supply the source material at the end. Gail Westgate would be proud, and touched, and most of all, known. She not only carried through her life a love for the spirit of all that is beautiful and moving, she incontrovertibly passed it on. I don’t think there was anything greater than that for which she hoped for from life.
I've got to start all over at the beginning, this is too good. All the threads come together, including some I've probably forgotten - gotta go back to go forward. ✊
Thank you! I was a little sad to finish this! There were a lot of threads to bring together as you note. I tried to do right by everyone up on the stage. I'll come back to it in six months when I have some distance and see what I need to tweak, but mostly it was very joyful for me to write this. I love it that you appreciate these characters, too. They will gradually fade away into the Archive pile, but those were very happy mornings with headphones on and plugging away here. You've been very kind about them. Again, thank you.
Thanks for reading! Tidbit: there’s a Michael Jackson song out there where he screams/sings for a really long time and everything kind of stops. I think that’s what made me think of it. I am unable to confirm C#. 😂

Thank you so much. The whole group sends their love.
A-freaking-men!
Oh, Adam. This is nothing short of miraculous.

Shit Damn, Man! How the hell did you just do whatever the hell that was that you just did.?
Blown clear the hell away! Truly. A masterclass, a visual word orgy with dance steps and a damn fun read!
I bow in your general direction with these wild eyes and shit-eating grin across my face that simply refuses to leave. In awe. Bravo!

Fabulous as always Adam!!
“It was a show stopper, but not necessarily in a masterful way.”
Absolutely brilliant!!! Anyone ever not have one of those moments? “Do you remember....?”
