Sorry to bother you twice in a day, but through a weird stroke of serendipity my wife and I returned to our old home near Aix-en-Provence on the very day I posted the last chapter of Finisterre.
We stopped by our old house, had a long conversation with the current renters, took a picture in the doorway where I started out on my Camino – and then my wife and I walked the first five miles of my Camino together. Almost like starting another Camino on the day I ended the first one, well sort of, kind of.
There’s the starting place doorway of my 1000-mile walk: our home in Rognes, France. Those two olive trees on either side were gifts of Melanie to the owners 12 years ago right before we left. The owners ended up calling the olive trees “the Nathans.” They are thriving today, we were both happy to see. So, this is technically a picture of the Nathans with the Nathans.
Only about mile 3 of 1000 high in the hills of Rognes, France. Lighter pack, larger belly this time, but still, technically speaking, a brand new Camino.
