I am in Ireland right now and just finished a spontaneous pilgrimage climb up Croagh Patrick mountain. A third of the way up the weather changed to high winds with sleet, followed by hail and then snow. My knees were shot. Jet lagged and out late last night listening to live music. Several times I almost turned back. Happy to share that I thought of you on the Camino on an occasion or two, and thought to myself “if Adam God blessed Nathan can walk the entire God blessed Camino than I can make it up this God blessed mountain pilgrimage in Ireland.”
Anyways. Made it to the top and the payoff was breathtaking.
You are in Ireland and I am listening to the Waterboys right now. It is a small world that, sadly, isn't more Irish. Spellings like "Croagh" however concern me.
Congratulations for summiting. There's a satisfaction in getting to the top of a mountain that is distinct and always visually memorable. I envy your day.
I was 9/10 of the way up on a Lake Louise ( Alberta, Canada ) day hike when a giggling bear cub came tumbling around a corner directlyin front of me, at a hairpin turn. It blew the corner, fell into some bushes. I could see the summit to my left, up the hill..but wondered about momma bear. Was my life going to be a ' short story '? Turned around, walked back down.
Lake Louise will always be " unfinished business ". I look forward to 100 Stories. Just not about Winnie the Poo :) ( Canadian - Ontario - author btw ).
Likely a great call... I hope to think I would've done the same.

During the climb as we got crushed by the weather my wife and I kept singing one line from a Fleetwood Mac song: "climbed a mountain and I turned around." With the emphasis on "turned around."
But the sun came out just long enough to trick us into continuing onward.
Hi Adam. These all look like positive changes. Personally I would prefer to read more fiction, given the quality of your work, so I like these changes. Best wishes and good luck with your new site.
I'm really, really happy about it on a lot of levels. The #1 level is that it gives an entire shape to my creative life for some serious time to come. I'm realizing it's a life opportunity in a way. That is enormously gratifying. I also think as a reader/subscriber it's easy to get your head around and it's different, but immediately obvious of what it is. An enormous canvas to punch in details. No doubt it will be a winding road.
I saw it and loved it on multiple levels. The sheer orchestration of it is awe-inspiring.
But the biggest thing for me was seeing Dylan unprotected and unable to hide. I love Dylan. There is no artist as important to me or ever will be. He is, as you may know, notoriously unreachable on any personal/public level. And there he was wrestling with the demons in front of the world not to mention his peers.
And he did it. When I first heard his voice in the song it practically made me cry. So, go figure.
I don't know I missed your acknowledgment here. Thank you. And thanks for reading Finisterre. That was a deep labor of love. I'm delighted when it is read.

We'll have a virtual meeting with a few hundred writers (X-visionPro style), remembering how modest and full of potential the platform was way back when it was still called Substack, oh boy, those happy days....
Isn't it just like that? The get together is an on-site, btw. In the sense that it will be on our premium goggles. What's crazy is that I will be retired when I hit 2032. That is a lot to take in. I've certainly gotten myself into something.
I'm going to be keeping a close eye on the confidence. I suspect there will be some troughs and despair of having established this gauntlet.
