It was also that exact commercial for me as well. I ran right out to buy a Nick Drake cd (weirdly enough, in Sarasota, because I am from around there.) Do commercials still have that effect on people?

That was a beautiful ad. Some team knew they were creating art there.

I don’t see that often. The demographics of network television have changed so much.

Having said that, I’ve found myself welling up at McDonald’s sentimentality against all of my best instincts. It actually bothers me I can be manipulated so easily by a commercial. Like, wtf?

But I would watch General Hospital if the ads were like Volkswagen’s.

There’s a specific feeling of being with 4 or so people in a car, going somewhere, listening to music together, conversation companionably stilled. I’ve only experienced that feeling a couple times.
