It was a good weekend in the woods behind the air b&b. Simply wandering around with my whatchamacllit I was adding birds like I was in a candy store, until something huge stirred about five feet to my side and was clearly standing up surprised. Because I wasn't sure if it had hoofs or paws, I hightailed it out of there. As I was sprinting, it occurred to me that the mauling would have been recorded on my bird application. (I went back and listened and you could hear the rustling and it wasn't as satisfying as I hoped. Melanie informed me that it was a squirrel and the kids, ungrateful brats, chimed in that it was a squirrel, too.)
If it was a bear, you’d be the third person in a week I know to have had a bear encounter. So I’m inclined to think it was a bear. Also, you would have had to give the audio of the recording to Werner Herzog so that he could make a posthumous documentary about you.
