okay, so this story is really, really scary/creepy--though it's the tone that makes it scary. The events themselves, taken as a whole, are not really so scary. When she stole the cat, I rooted for her--maybe the only person who would do so! (I wrote a book where a woman steals a dog....) So perhaps it's her own guilty conscience that is causing such chaos.
